Our Story

The Clarksville Montgomery County Adult Literacy Council (ALC) was established in 1985 to promote public awareness of the need for literacy education in the area. It is a registered United Way agency that provides basic and developmental literacy to Adults in the Montgomery County and Ft. Campbell service area at no charge.

The ALC has served thousands of students under its various programs. In 2023, all seven service programs were combined under one program - Literacy for LIFE. The program conveys the message that education is a lifelong pursuit.

A Board of Directors governs the Adult Literacy Council. Its day-to-day activities are managed by an Executive Director, with the support of volunteer tutors and partners.
